Want a remote mountain valley, far from the usual Kashmir stops? You spend one night on a houseboat on Dal Lake, four in a simple guesthouse in Gurez and one in Srinagar, with your own 4x4 and driver from Srinagar airport. The days are slow: Dawar village by the Kishanganga river, Habba Khatoon peak, the log houses of Badwan and the Tulail valley, if permission is given on the day. Breakfast and dinner are included every day. It runs only in summer, once the road over Razdan Pass opens. Phones barely work in Gurez, so it is a good place to switch off.

Indian travellers need no permit. We inform the Bandipora district control room in advance and keep your stay confirmed. Foreign nationals need permission from the DC Bandipora.
The network in Gurez is weak, so expect few calls and little data. Postpaid SIMs work in Kashmir; prepaid SIMs from other states do not.
Only in summer, about June to October, after the road over Razdan Pass opens. Snow can close the pass even then, so we check the road before you travel.
Weather, road closures and local rules can change the order of days, and Tulail is subject to permission on the day. Extra nights caused by closures are paid at actual cost.
Children from 10 years can join. Days 2 and 6 are 6-hour mountain drives, so everyone should be fine with long, winding roads.
